Another four people with COVID have died in Saskatchewan.
According to a Sunday news release from the Ministry of Health, two people in their 60’s and two people in their 70’s passed away after testing positive.
Two of them were from the south (70’s), one was from Regina, the other from the far north area (60’s).
The total number of deaths in the province is now 59.
The province also reported 415 new cases of the virus, along with 46 recoveries. The active case load now sits at 4,550. Sunday’s numbers eclipsed the 10,000 mark for the province.
Since the pandemic hit Saskatchewan, there have been 10,139 total cases and 5,530 recoveries.
New cases were reported in every region except the far north-central zone, including the Regina (60), Saskatoon (205), north-central (39), southwest (6), northwest (26), far northeast (18), far northwest (15), central-east (10), south-central (12), southeast (six), northeast (10), and central-west (five) areas. The location is still under investigation for three new cases.
The Ministry explained the high case numbers from Saskatoon as a correction from Saturday’s update. That day, only four new cases were reported because of a data error. Sunday’s total includes those missed cases.
There are 135 people in hospital. Of those, 26 are in intensive care: 12 in Saskatoon, nine in Regina and five in the north-central area.
The province came close to reaching its goal of 4,000 tests a day Saturday, when 3,846 tests were performed. That brought the total number of tests since March up to 364,392.
