Ten employees of the Saskatoon mail processing plant on 51st Street have recently tested positive for COVID-19.
All employees wore personal protective equipment and practised physical distancing while at work and Canada Post doesn’t think the cases are related to one another.
The employees were last at work between Nov. 23 and Saturday. Canada Post says a complete sanitization of the facility was completed after the employees’ last day of work to ensure the safety of all employees.
The corporation also wanted to reassure people there is a low risk of contracting the coronavirus from mail.
“The World Health Organization and Public Health Agency of Canada have assured us it is safe to handle mail, as there is a low risk of spread from products or packaging,” Canada Post told 650 CKOM in an email.
