Rebellion Brewing is using a brand new beer to help families in need.
The Regina brewing company revealed its newest community tap, Milk ‘N’ Honey Breakfast Ale, with proceeds from every pint and growler sold going to the Regina Food Bank.
“We want to show that we’re not just a local brewery, that we’re a community minded brewery,” said Mark Heise, brew master at Rebellion Brewing. “We feel that we have a responsibility to help out those on both ends of the spectrum by giving people some really cool beers to try but also understanding there’s people who need a hand getting access to better food.”
Heise said he expects the 2,000 litres of the beer to sell out fast because of the unique flavour.
“It’s slightly sweet, you got the creaminess from the milk, the nice sweet honey taste and then a lot of nice rich oats to give it a nice smooth taste.”
Todd Sandine, director of operations for the food bank, said the unique promotion fits in with their needs.
“One of the top 10 items we need is breakfast cereals. When kids go to school hungry they don’t perform as well so to raise some awareness with a great promotion like this is really important to us,” he said.
The money raised will go towards distributing food they have at the food bank.
“In the spring, our donations are down so we really want re-engage the community.”
While this is the first time Rebellion Brewing is partnering with the Regina Food Bank, it isn’t the first time they have made donations to organizations in the city.
This is their sixth community tap and they have donated more than $10,000.
