An NHL schedule takes its toll on a team at some point in a season.
Teams go on win streaks and teams go through slumps over the course of 82 games.
Last night, the Florida Panthers beat up on Toronto 7-2.
The Leafs, who now have 14 regular season games remaining, currently sit outside of a playoff spot in the eastern conference.
Mike Babcock used the word “poor” to describe his team at the conclusion of last night’s game and said: “when you’re not prepared. you get fed your lunch”.
That’s exactly what happened.
While Leaf players would like to forget about last night’s game, I can see it being one of the most significant games of the season.
It’ll either serve as the wake up call needed to compete night in, night out, or the game that killed the spirit of a group of players who don’t yet have a sense of what it takes to make a playoff push.
