An inmate found unresponsive in his cell was declared dead early Monday morning at the Saskatoon Correctional Centre.
In a release, the Ministry of Corrections and Policing says the 28-year-old man, who was on remand, was discovered at 1:10 a.m.
The Saskatoon Police Service and the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service have been notified and are investigating.
The ministry will also be conducting an internal investigation.
The death is not related to COVID-19 and foul play is not suspected at this time.
