Saskatchewan reported Friday its highest single-day total of COVID-19 cases in nearly a month.
The provincial government said there were 13 new cases, the highest such number since there were 15 reported on Aug. 16.
The cases reported Friday were in the central-east (seven), Saskatoon (four), far northeast (one) and Regina (one) regions.
Those increased the provincial total to date to 1,688. One false positive was removed from the total.
There were five recoveries reported, hiking that total so far to 1,598. To date, 24 residents of the province have died after testing positive for COVID-19.
There are 66 active cases being reported in Saskatchewan, with 19 of those in communal living settings.
Two people are receiving inpatient care in Saskatoon hospitals.
Two more flights flagged
The provincial government has added two more flights into Saskatchewan to the list of those that carried someone who later tested positive for COVID-19.
The list now includes Air Canada 7947 from Toronto to Regina on Sunday (affected rows are 3 to 16) and Flair Airlines 8513 from Toronto to Saskatoon on Sept. 3 (rows 1 to 7).
Anyone who was on those flights is advised to self-monitor for symptoms for 14 days after their arrival.
A look at the numbers
The province’s total number of cases comprises 841 community contacts, 507 without any known exposures, 257 travellers, and 83 that remain under investigation.
There have been 428 cases from the south area (218 southwest, 197 south-central, 13 southeast), 357 in the far north (349 far northwest, eight far northeast), 282 in the Saskatoon area, 270 from the north zone (131 northwest, 73 north-central, 66 northeast), 212 from the central area (167 central-west, 45 central-east) and 139 in the Regina region.
To date, 69 health-care workers have contracted the virus.
The total number of cases includes 548 in the 20-to-39 age range, 515 between the ages of 40 and 59, 286 from age 60 to 79, 281 involving people 19 and under, and 58 in the 80-and-over range.
There were 1,683 tests done in the province on Thursday, when drive-through testing sites were open in both Regina and Saskatoon. The total number of tests done in Saskatchewan to date is 155,332.
