There won’t be any high school sports in Saskatoon this fall because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
On its webpage, the Saskatoon Secondary Schools Athletic Directorate (SSSAD) said: “The health and safety of the student-athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers involved in SSSAD athletics is paramount.”
It says in working with the Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools and Saskatoon Public Schools divisions, the SSSAD made the difficult decision to cancel fall sports for 2020.
Those sports include football, soccer, volleyball and cross-country.
The SSSAD says it will continue to take guidance from the province’s chief medical health officer and other stakeholders in determining when it would be safe to offer sports again.
