Intentionally set fires led to evacuations at a local First Nation on Thursday night.
At approximately 10 p.m. on May 7, Battlefords RCMP were called to Sweetgrass First Nation for multiple calls of grass fires being set in several locations.
Upon arrival, the RCMP encountered several large grass fires burning and determined a number of residences had to be evacuated.
None of the residences were lost in the fires, however emergency services spent several hours ensuring the public was kept safe.
Witnesses indicated an ATV was observed in the area where the fires were set.
