Saskatoon surpassed a daily heat record on Thursday that was set back in 1926.
The original record sat at 25.6 C.
Environment Canada meteorologist Brian Luzny said the city reached 28.3 C Thursday afternoon.
“There was a big trough over the Pacific Ocean and we had this southeast flow that was streaming in warm pacific air for the last couple days. It reached its peak Thursday.”
Friday will see a return to more normal conditions with a high of 18 C.
