As the coronavirus spreads, local travel agencies are starting to get a lot of calls from clients who are wondering if they should still be traveling.
Jamie Milton is a partner at Uniglobe Carefree Travel. She said on the business travel side they are seeing some people holding off and waiting to see what is going to happen around the world before they do any booking.
“Of course you don’t want to send your employees somewhere that might not be safe and where you have some concerns and worries,” said Milton.
She said on the vacation side, they are seeing more people concerned about bookings they already have, whether it’s Europe this summer or the upcoming Easter break.
“We’re answering a lot of questions. We’re trying to reach out now to anyone who we have booked in the short term heading into those affected areas, making sure they’re aware of their options. Some of the airlines are offering flexible re-booking policies,” said Milton.
She also said travel insurance is always a good idea, especially in situations like these.
“Anyone who is looking to book now but is hesitant because of the coronavirus, there are some very good insurance options,” said Milton.
She said if you are having concerns, it’s best to reach out to your travel provider who can fill you in on the regulations and policies and hopefully provide some peace of mind.
