Bus service in Saskatoon is back to normal Wednesday after transit workers agreed to a new contract with the city.
Members of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 615 voted 55.83 per cent in favor of the agreement Tuesday.
City council will finalize the deal with a vote on Thursday.
Transit workers will get a 10 per cent wage increase, with back pay to 2012. They will also move over to the same pension arrangement as the city’s other unions, resolving what appeared to be the main sticking point in four years of negotiations.
If approved by council, the new deal with the transit union only runs to the end of 2016.
The city and workers will sit down to negotiate another 4-year deal in the new year.
