Saskatoon police issued a public advisory Tuesday, reminding drivers not to leave their keys inside vehicles.
It comes as Environment Canada forecasts cooler temperatures and heavy snowfall in Saskatoon and west-central Saskatchewan.
“If you leave your vehicle idling outdoors unattended, ensure the keys are not inside and the doors are locked,” police said in a media release.
Police suggest to stay with your vehicle if you can’t warm them up with the doors locked.
“If proper precautions are not taken, this could present a crime of opportunity for thieves,” the media release stated.
Anyone that sees suspicious activity around vehicles is asked to contact the non-emergency police line at 306-975-8300.
