Three people are facing charges after a huge seizure of illegal tobacco products north of Yorkton.
According to the RCMP, a four-month-long investigation led to the execution of six search warrants in the towns of Pelly and Hyas on Thursday. Officers seized approximately 227,000 illegal cigarettes, 25 pounds of loose tobacco and $1,800.
The Yorkton Provincial General Investigation Section (GIS), Kamsack RCMP, Saskatchewan RCMP Criminal Analytical Section and Saskatchewan Ministry of Finance participated in the investigation.
A 71-year-old man, a 25-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman each are facing five charges. They’re to appear in Kamsack Provincial Court on Feb. 11.
