No longer can anybody talk about rust or question whether having the bye week or a few weeks off could hinder good teams.
For the second straight year, the West Division Champion had two weeks off before they played in the West Final. It worked for Edmonton last year and did again for Calgary this year.
The Stampeders have been and continue to be the class of the CFL. There is no question about their ability, about their depth, about their preparation or their ability to shine on the big stage.
Calgary will waltz in to Toronto as the heavy favourite. If 100 per cent of pundits pick the Stampeders, it isn’t for a lack of respect for Ottawa, it is solely the reality of Calgary’s dominance.
The Lions tried to use the pundits picks as motivation.
They still got flogged. And it wasn’t even hard to watch – it was a thing of beauty. Bo Levi Mitchell was near perfect.
Sorry if this sounds like a promo for Stampeders football, but damn, this is one of the best football teams I’ve ever seen.
And it’ll be hard to find any reason to pick Ottawa to win the Grey Cup.
