A 38-year-old man is facing charges after a standoff with police in Saskatoon’s Buena Vista neighbourhood Saturday night.
Around 6 p.m., crisis negotiators — along with members of the tactical support and K-9 units — were called in to help officers deal with a man inside a home in the 200 block of First Street East. He was believed to be armed with a knife.
Police blocked off the area to vehicle and pedestrian traffic until the situation was peacefully resolved about four hours later.
Just after 10 p.m., police said the man was “safely taken into custody.”
He now faces two charges of assault with a weapon.
The accused will appear before a Justice of the Peace on Sunday.
