The quick work of the Saskatoon Fire Department helped save four dogs trapped in a basement fire.
Around 3:35 p.m. Wednesday, firefighters responded to a residential fire alarm in the Silverwood Heights neighbourhood.
When crews arrived at 206 Benesh Place, they saw smoke through windows and broke open a door to get inside.
They were able to quickly get a fire in the basement out.
Four dogs, a cat and a parrot were found in the basement.
Firefighters used oxygen to revive the dogs, but the cat and parrot died.
