An investigation by the Saskatchewan Coroners Service has found a death at Royal University Hospital (RUH) earlier this week was a result of self-harm.
Allan Landrie went missing from his home in the 2400 block of Louise Avenue sometime on Saturday and was spotted later that day entering RUH.
On Tuesday, three days after Landrie went missing, he was found dead inside the hospital in an area the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) describes as publicly accessible.
The health authority said Landrie was not a patient when it issued a statement Thursday.
“Our security officers worked closely with police upon confirmation that Mr. Landrie was seen entering RUH on surveillance which included a search of various locations through the 1.2 million square feet of space in RUH,” the statement said.
The SHA said police were given full access to video surveillance footage during the investigation.
The coroners service continues to investigate the death with the SHA and police.
No further comments are expected.
An earlier version of this story stated the Landrie died as a result of suicide. The coroner’s office did not specify.
