The Saskatoon Fire Department water rescue crew was called to the South Saskatchewan river Wednesday afternoon, after it was reported that a person was in distress near the Victoria Boathouse.
Witnesses said they saw the person go under the water, and the person who called 9-1-1 was on scene to describe to the rescue crew exactly where it happened.
The public is asked to avoid the area near the Victoria Boathouse.
