The Saskatoon Fire Department says a damaged extension cord is to blame for a garage fire Saturday afternoon.
The blaze was sparked around 1 p.m. in the 300 block of Main Street.
According to the fire department, the homeowner called 911 after hearing a pop and seeing smoke coming from his garage.
The homeowner then tried using his garden hose to extinguish the flames until firefighters arrived.
After the blaze was put out, a fire investigator was called to the scene where they determined the fire to be the result of a damaged extension cord.
The fire department estimates the damage to the garage and the vehicle inside it to be roughly $50,000.
