People attending SaskTel Saskatchewan JazzFest in June have a new option.
For the first time, some of the free shows will happen on the main stage in the Bessborough Gardens.
Artistic Director Kevin Tobin sees it as an opportunity to showcase talent to a larger audience.
“We want to be able to build our musicians–to celebrate and showcase them,” Tobin said.
According to Tobin, more than 75 per cent of all performances during the festival is free and there is a significant amount of homegrown talent.
“Seventy per cent of the musicians that perform at the festival this year, from June 21st to the 30th, will be local and Saskatchewan musicians,” he said.
Along with the main stage, free shows are planned at several venues and at pop-ups around Saskatoon.
