Crews battled a grass fire about 20 kilometres outside of Saskatoon on Saturday, near Highway 14 and Grandora.
Tyler Elder, who lives close to the area, said he first noticed smoke at about noon.
“We noticed there was smoke out in the area. It’s only three or four miles from my place so we went to check it out. It appeared to be a grass fire that got out of control. And with today’s gusty winds out of the south, it just spread into a bluff,” Elder said.
Elder said conditions have been dry as of late.
“Even within the bluff this time of year, sometimes you can see snow or moisture within the trees. There’s not really a lot of moisture left,” he said.
When he spoke to 650 CKOM, Elder said crews appeared to have the fire under control.
