A 40-year-old man is facing charges after assaulting a police officer Tuesday afternoon.
Police responded to a downtown condominium in the 100 block of 23rd Street East after being called about a person trying to enter a suite and hiding from people.
After arresting the man for being intoxicated in public, the man became combative.
Police said while officers were escorting him to the patrol car, he caused a disturbance by lying in the street and assaulting members.
Once taken into custody, the suspect was found in possession of brass knuckles.
In addition to assaulting an officer, he’s charged with resisting arrest, obstructing an officer and numerous weapons offenses.
