After a three-day vacation at Wascana Lake, a moose is now recovering in a field outside the city.
Regina’s latest wild visitor has been a bit of an attraction since he was first spotted by rowers on Wascana Lake early Monday morning.
Conservation officers said they couldn’t safely tranquilize him while he was swimming in the lake or resting on one of the islands. When he decided to come back to the main land on Thursday morning, conservation officers used a tranquilizer and loaded him on to a flat bed truck for the trip out of the city.

Conservation officers have a few safe locations they take wild animals that are a good distance from highways.

“They took him out and propped him up in the grass in a secure area, they did administer a reversal drug and after a while the animal got up and slowly staggered away,” explained conservation officer Lindsey Leko.
From his last report, the moose was relaxing in the shade as conservation officers monitored him from a distance.
