Extreme cold warnings remained in effect Friday morning across the entire province.
With Environment Canada reporting wind chills of -45 C in Saskatoon and -45 C in Prince Albert at 6 a.m., the Prairie Spirit School Division cancelled school bus service for the day.
By 7 a.m., the wind chill in Saskatoon was still at -45 C, prompting both the Saskatoon Public and Greater Saskatoon Catholic school boards to cancel their elementary school bus services.
Bus service was also cancelled for Catholic students in Warman and Martensville who get bussed to Bishop James Mahoney High School.
Although bus services were cancelled, all three school divisions advised that school buildings would remain open Friday and classes would still run.
