Two Regina schools were secured for a short time Tuesday as police investigated a report of popping sounds in the area.
Police say a call reported three “popping” sounds shortly before 11 a.m. on the 1000 block of 14th Avenue East. As officers checked to make sure there wasn’t a firearm threat, a nearby high school and private school was put under a “secure-the-building” mode.
The mode was lifted 40 minutes later as officers found no threat in the area.
Officers did make an arrest, however. An 18-year-old man who was wanted on warrants was found in the neighbourhood and was taken into custody.
