A patrol officer saw the woman, believed to be in her mid-20’s, jump over the side of the walkway on the bridge around 2:40 p.m.
Another officer reportedly made his way down the north side of the riverbank and waded into the river secured by a rope to rescue the woman, with help from a member of the police traffic unit and a member of the public.
MD Ambulance and the Saskatoon Fire Department also responded at the scene, providing treatment to both the woman and the officer who went into the river.
The officer was not injured in the incident. Police reported Wednesday that the woman was alert and conscious when she was transported to hospital.
