A Saskatchewan Roughrider team that lost to the Montreal Alouettes at one point this season has now won the season series with the Calgary Stampeders, the league’s best team.
Not only did the Riders win the season series, but the Green-and-White were sound in Saturday’s 29-24 win.
Saskatchewan looked nothing like the team that lost 31-0 to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers the week before. There were key drives when needed, impressive play calling, and big plays on defence when required.
A playoff win streak of some kind (likely a three-game win streak) will be needed to win a Grey Cup in this, Chris Jones’ third year in charge of the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
This is a team that went on a four-game win streak, and a three0game win streak earlier this season, but a lack of consistency has been an issue.
Consistency will likely have to start 20 days from now, in the Western Semi-Final.
Now that the Riders have won, the “hard to explain” will have to disappear.
