A cooking fire Friday afternoon is leaving a home in northwest Saskatoon with $30,000 worth of damage.
The Saskatoon Fire Department received the call about the blaze at 222 Douglas Cres. around 4:45 p.m.
When crews arrived, they saw the heavy black smoke billowing out of the bungalow’s front door.
Firefighters were told someone inside was cooking and accidentally caused a fire in the kitchen.
Everyone inside the home was able to self-evacuate it.
No one was hurt.
After crews distinguished the flames, ventilation fans were used to clear out the smoke from inside the home.
The exact cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
The fire damage is estimated at $30,000.
