Saskatoon police used a taser Wednesday to try and slow down a suspect after being called to a home for a disturbance.
Police arrived at the home on the 200 block of Avenue X North around 6 p.m. When they got there, one of the officers spotted a 29-year-old man who had an outstanding warrant on a break-and-enter charge.
Police said the man pulled a box-cutter and then ran from the scene.
During the chase, the suspect reportedly turned back towards the pursuing officers, who used a taser to try and slow him down.
The taser failed to stop the man and he kept running, eventually crossing every lane of traffic on 22nd Street West. Police said the man was periodically stopping, turning on officers and threatening to hurt himself.
Eventually, the man was arrested near the intersection of 22nd Street West and Avenue X South without any further incident.
In addition to his outstanding warrants, police said the man has been charged with assaulting an officer with a weapon and breaching an undertaking.
