Woman gets probation for role in staged HomeSense robbery

A Saskatoon woman who helped orchestrate a staged robbery at the HomeSense store where she was employed has been sentenced to a probation period of two and a half years.

Cheyanne Anderson, 21, pleaded guilty to public mischief and theft under $5,000 and was sentenced this week in Saskatoon Provincial Court.

Court heard how Anderson and boyfriend Braden Odishaw arranged to steal money from the HomeSense store on May 24, 2015 during Odishaw’s sentencing in October. The Crown said Odishaw gave a note to Anderson, who was working at the till, that said he was robbing the store. She gave him $200 and then provided false information to police, prosecutor Barbara Herder said.

Odishaw received a six-month conditional sentence order, essentially a jail sentence served in the community under strict conditions, followed by a year of probation. He was also ordered to pay back the $200 that he stole from HomeSense.
