All good things must come to an end and for the Regina Pats, their seven game win streak was snapped thanks to an impressive game by Prince Albert goaltender Rylan Parenteau.
The Pats were buzzing around the P.A. net all night to the tune of 42 shots and only one, on a power play, made it past the Raiders netminder.
Regina out shot the Raiders in all three periods and by a total of 42-24.
The night didn’t start out well for Regina as they found themselves down a man less than a minute into the game. Prince Albert’s power play capitalized when Vojtech Budik swept in the goal.
The Raiders put the Pats on their heels in the second period when Jesse Lees scored his 19th of the season to put the visitors up 2-0.
Regina finally broke through on the power play in the third period. Adam Brooks, who was close to seeing his point streak end, set up Cole Sanford for his 33rd of the season, cutting the lead to one. Brooks point streak is now 12 games long.
But then it was Parenteau who took control again, turning aside shot after shot. The Raiders ended the scoring with an empty net goal and a 3-1 win.
The Pats are in action Saturday in Saskatoon and then host a midday game at 11:30 am on Monday.
