After the coldest day of the year, temperatures heading above normal in Saskatoon

Saskatchewan can look forward to a break from the bitter cold as temperatures expect to climb closer to zero this week.
 
Environment Canada meterologist Jason Knight said Saskatoon saw the coldest day of they year Sunday with the mercury falling to -37 C, which is actually a few degrees warmer than the city’s record low.
 
Relief is coming but it’s also bringing another snowfall.
 
“The Arctic system that caused the bitterly cold temperatures is now moving east into Manitoba and soon entirely out of the prairies and some warmer air is coming from the west so we’re looking at temperatures to warm up to -14 C, with a little snow starting a litte later this morning bringing about five cenitmetres total,” Knight said.
 
The warmest day of the week will likely fall on Saturday with a daytime high of -4 C.
