The Royal University Hospital Foundation surpassed its goal for
a three-year fundraising drive to improve emergency medicine at Saskatoon’s busiest medical facility.
The foundation’s GreatE.R. campaign started in 2015 with a goal of raising $20 million for projects related to trauma, emergency and critical care at Royal University Hospital.
On Wednesday, the foundation announced it had brought in a total of $28-million thanks to donations from 4,625 people, businesses and corporate donors in Saskatchewan.
Some of the money, $15.9-million, is already going toward a new seven-bed Emergency Mental Health Assessment Unit, technology upgrades and supporting other hospital programs.
The RUH Foundation has raised $130-million over the last 35 years.
