A little girl has suffered what Saskatchewan RCMP described as serious injuries in a dog attack on the Fishing Lake First Nation near Wadena.
Police were called out to the community Friday. They said the girl, 9, was taken to hospital in Saskatoon after being bitten by two dogs.
Officers determined the dogs were owned by a member of the community.
Police said both animals were euthanized at the direction of the Fishing Lake chief and council.
Fishing Lake First Nation Chief Derrick Sunshine said the community currently has no bylaws in place for dog owners. He said he expected the band council would be looking at new policies in light of the incident.
