Worker caught having sex with inmate at Regina Correctional Centre

A food services worker was caught having sex with an inmate at Regional Correctional Centre, according to media reports.

The Ministry of Justice did not confirm the details to media, but did say it had been informed of a security incident involving an inmate and an employee of Compass group, the private company contracted to provide food services at the jail. The worker in question is no longer employed at the jail, and the Ministry said it is happy with how the situation was handled.

Earlier this week, more than 100 inmates at the centre refused to eat the food they were given, complaining about the quality. A similar protest took place at the end of last year over uncooked eggs.

Last year Compass Group Canada took over food services for eight Saskatchewan jails, the Regina Correctional Centre being one of them.
