Friends of a family killed in a highway crash welcome the community to take part in a special tribute in Saskatoon.
Since the deadly crash on Jan. 3, a group surfaced on Facebook extending an open invitation to anyone in Saskatoon on Saturday night, to hang glow sticks in their windows honouring Jordan Van de Vorst, who was an avid Northern Lights photographer, and his young family.
In a Facebook post, Colin Chatfield, Jordan’s close friend and fellow photographer, suggested glow sticks instead of candles because of how much Jordan used glow sticks in his photography.
“Jordan liked using them for light painting while doing night photography,” he writes.
Chatfield also posted a photo he captured as Jordan tied glow sticks to his body and ran down a road back in the summer.
Friends of Jordan’s wife Chanda plan to also hold a community glow stick vigil in her hometown of Watrous. Sara Dunne took to Facebook as well saying they collected 1,100 glow sticks for the vigil.
