The old Traffic Bridge will start coming down this winter in Saskatoon.
With permits now in place, contractor Graham Commuter Partners expect to start work in the river next week.
The first step will be building a berm to serve as a work area in the middle of the river. From there, they’ll start taking apart the old bridge and hauling it away.
Construction means there will be detours on the Meewasin trail in Rotary Park. Graham expects to have the berm pulled back closer to the south bank of the river by April to allow for regular boat traffic. The first span of the new bridge is expected to go in at the south bank of the river this summer.
The bridge is expected to be completed in October 2018.
