While many of us having been enjoying the extended fall, snowmobilers are itching to get out.
It appears the weather may soon be changing. The temperatures are look to be cooling off soon but still there isn’t much snow in the forecast.
Royce Barlow, an instructor with the the Saskatchewan Snowmobilers Association, is hoping that will change.
“All our snowmobiles are probably tuned up and ready to go and as soon as we get snow we will be going,” he said.
Snowmobilers can’t really get out with the first snowfall. Barlow says they need about 25 centimetres of packed snow to get out an truly enjoy it.
“The first snow is usually very soft and you are going right through to the ground,” he explained. “There are rocks and branches and everything that are buried in the snow and if it is not hard it’s going to cause problems.”
Barlow admits they would all love to see snow but they just have to be patient and wait.
