Police in Regina and Moose Jaw had a busy weekend connecting the dots in a break and enter last week, involving six raids, stolen guns, and four teenagers.
It all started Wednesday last week in Moose Jaw, when five guns, ammo, cash, jewelry, other personal items and a Ford F-150 were stolen from a garage overnight.
Regina Police got information that some of the stolen items might be in Regina, so they worked with police in Moose Jaw police.
On Thursday and Friday police in Regina carried out three “high-risk” raids in Regina, on the 800 block of Rae Street, the 900 block of Rae Street, and on Transcona Place. They recovered one gun, ammo, the truck, some cash, and a scope for a rifle.
A home on River Street East in Moose Jaw on Friday, where two shotguns were recovered.
On Saturday police searched two homes in Regina, one on Merrit Crescent, the other on Barr Street. In those, they found a rifle, and a shotgun.
According to the Regina Police Service, 19 people were interviews, but only four were charged.
Darren McNab, 19, of Regina, if being charged on 14 counts: possession of stolen property under $5,000, five counts of possession of a firearm obtained by the commission of an offense, five counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, and two counts of weapons trafficking.
Braiden Hotomani, 18, of Regina is being charged on 11 counts: possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose for a knife, two counts of possession of a firearm contrary to order, possession of a firearm obtained by the commission of an offense, two counts of careless use/storage or a firearm/ammunition, two counts of breach of undertaking.
Emile Hotomani, 18, of Regina, is charged on five counts: careless use/storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, two counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000, and possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance.
And a 17-year-old man, who cannot be identified as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is facing eight charges: three counts of possession of stolen property under $5,000, possession of stolen property over $5,000 for the truck, careless use/storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance.
Emile Hotomani, and the youth made their first appearances on these charges on Friday. The other two made their first appearances on these charges on Monday morning.
