The warm fall weather is delaying winter weight allowances on Saskatchewan’s roads.
Cold temperatures freeze and strengthen roads, which is why the Ministry of Highways allows additional weight during the winter. In a news release, the ministry says the delay will prevent damage to the roads.
The winter weight allowances won’t come into effect until Dec. 1, or until the roads are sufficiently frozen. The roads will be monitored to determine when winter weights can be allowed.
