Put away the patio furniture, and strap down the Halloween decorations – Environment Canada issued a wind warning for most of southern Saskatchewan on Sunday.
Strong and extended wind is expected, starting around noon, and continuing until the early evening. Gusts could reach up to 90 kilometres per hour.
It’s being caused by a fast moving cold front and a low pressure system.
“The fact that it’s going to last for five or six hours, it could cause some structural damage to some weakly designed buildings, obviously some lawn furniture could be blown around a bit,” explained Mike McDonald, Environment Canada meteorologist.
The warning isn’t just for Regina.
“It’s not a localized event, it’ll pretty much cover all of southern Saskatchewan as the day progresses.,” said McDonald.
The warning extends from the Kindersley, and Wilkie areas near the Alberta border, down to the U.S. border, and across to the Manitoba border.
