Chances are, people in Saskatchewan will spend the first weekend of spring shovelling their driveways.
Tuesday marked the official first day of spring; however, Environment Canada meteorologist John Paul Cragg said it looks like Saskatchewan’s weather won’t be co-operating just yet.
“The next three weeks even, it’s looking like temperatures are going to stay colder than average,” he said.
Cragg said both Saskatoon and Regina could see more snow heading into the weekend. But he added more snow on top of what’s already on the ground is bad news for people looking forward to warmer temperatures.
“A lot of the energy from that warmer air gets used just to melt the snow, so it’s really hard to get warm when we have the snow on the ground,” Cragg said.
Cragg added people may not be too thrilled once spring conditions finally arrive in the province.
“Right now, we’re looking at a colder than average spring and a wetter than average spring,” he said.
