Saskatoon police are concerned about fake pharmaceuticals on city streets.
Police issued a warning to the public based on an Oct. 2 search of a home in the 600 block of Main Street East, near Oskayak High School in the Nutana neighbourhood.
Originally, police were called to attend to an unconscious man suffering from a head wound. That man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. As of Wednesday, he was reported to be in serious but stable condition.
Once at the scene, officers spotted large amounts of pills and other substances around the home that raised suspicion, prompting a call to the Saskatoon Integrated Drug Enforcement Street Team (SIDEST).
SIDEST reportedly found about $300,000, 90,000 pills and various chemicals and equipment. They also searched a business in the 100 block of Primrose Drive.
In a release, police said the equipment was being used to make fake versions of pharmaceutical grade male and female hormone medications, as well as a variety of steroids.
Police are continuing their investigation, as they seek to identify all the items found during their searches.
