For Murray Wood, Easter brings to mind grandma's practical advice about repurposing, and some of life's little lessons.
Crews are up against Mother Nature to finish repairs on the Highway 16 fly-over near SaskTel Centre.
The overpass which handles 7,800 vehicles a day has been closed since the end of June. The project which involved repaving the deck and concrete work was expected to be finished by late September to early October.
Joel Cherry with the Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure told the Brent Loucks Show Tuesday the project fell behind schedule after crews discovered the overpass was in far worse condition.
“When they got in there and chipped away at the concrete surface they saw the bridge was structurally in poorer condition than we first thought ,” said Cherry.
“It’s like you’re doing renovation on an older house. You pull out the tiles an cupboards you’re quite often going to find something.”
Cherry said if the weather holds, they’re aiming to have everything done by the end of October.
Highway 11 projects
Cherry said paving has started on the acceleration lanes at Lutheran Road and expect to have traffic on Highway 11 back to normal by the end of the week.
Paving will begin next week on the Corey Road on-ramp. Resurfacing on Highway 305 is slated to begin the following week.
