The University of Saskatchewan says one of their former students was assaulted Monday morning while walking on the Meewasin Trail on the first day of the school’s Sexual Assault Awareness week.
Police said a man approached a lone woman who was walking on the trail near Diefenbaker Centre and grabbed her in a sexual manner.
The woman wasn’t hurt and police continue to investigate.
The man is described as aboriginal, around 30-years-old, with short, dark hair and a long sleeved black shirt. He was riding a black mountain bike.

The assault happened on the morning of the university’s launch of Sexual Assault Awareness Week. The annual event is celebrating 10 years of promoting ways to reduce sexual assault. Events include a TED Talk on men and violence, a supports fair, film screenings and a concert.
The university will also present its new sexual assault policy and launch a feedback gathering period for the program Tuesday morning.
