A cold end to 2017 has more people stopping at one of Saskatoon’s 10 warm-up locations.
Shaun Dyck, the executive director of Saskatoon Housing Initiatives Partnership, told 650 CKOM Thursday they’re trying their best to get information out about the different spaces available.
“We have posters up across the city, so if you see a blue and orange poster with the locations try to make your way there,” Dyck said.

Warm-up locations include:
The Lighthouse
Friendship Inn
All Saskatoon Public Library branches
Saskatoon Indian and Métis Friendship Centre
Saskatoon (westside) Community Clinic
Switch Clinic
The Bridge Fellowship Centre
Egadz, which is only open to youth
CUMFI
AIDS Saskatoon
The posters are plastered up in the downtown core and at business and hospitals.
According to Dyck, the Lighthouse is busier than normal while the Friendship Inn is also reporting an influx.
“During lunches, (the Friendship Inn) is busier and a lot of people are staying longer,” he said.
If people need to get to a warm-up location, but don’t transportation, Dyck suggests they contact the Saskatoon Mobile Crisis Line or try to reach out to community support officers in the area.
