A Saskatoon man was handed Saskatchewan’s longest-ever prison sentence for child pornography after pleading guilty to 40 charges.
Philip Chicoine, 28, pleaded guilty to counts of child luring, as well as possessing, distributing and agreeing to make child pornography.
Along with details of a massive trove of material focused on the sexual torture of children, court heard that Chicoine interacted online with women in Romania and the Philippines, paying them to abuse children while he watched via streaming video.
The Crown asked for a sentence of 17 years, while the defence argued for seven.
Chicoine was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
