A cougar sighting near Jim Tooke park in Dalmeny forced a SaskAlert Friday.
Saskatchewan’s emergency public alerting program announced the sighting around 4:40 p.m. Friday.
According to the alert, a cougar was spotted in the area of the park on 5th Street and Ross Avenue around 2:45 p.m.
People are asked to watch kids a little closer and to be more cautious while taking pets out for walks while the alert is in effect.
Anyone that sees the cougar should not try to get close to it. Instead, officials recommend getting to safety inside then call Dalmeny Police Service at 306-254-2114.
The alert is in effect until Sunday afternoon.
Dalmeny is about 20 minutes north of Saskatoon.
