All tickets to the KPMG & Rawlco Radio Free Admission at Remai Modern opening weekend have been distributed.
A total of 7,000 free tickets, slated for specific times throughout Saturday and Sunday, have been reserved through online registrations.
“This is an overwhelming response, and we’re thrilled,” said Gregory Burke, Remai Modern Executive Director & CEO, in a news release Monday.
“Excitement has been building during the years of construction, and now we’re looking forward to welcoming the crowds to celebrate with us, and to see the building and our inaugural exhibition, Field Guide.”
Burke said issuing the timed tickets is a way of adhering to occupancy limits, “while maintaining the best possible experience for guests.”
Remai Modern staff members will be monitoring the flow of visitors throughout the weekend, and will work to accommodate those who show up without a ticket, as space allows.
“We’ll try not to turn any people away,” Burke said.
Entrance into the museum is free for everyone Oct. 21-22.
The official opening of Remai Modern kicks off Saturday at 8:30 a.m. with a ceremony.
The free event is open to the public and will be held out front of the main entrance at 102 Spadina Crescent East. People are encouraged to join in for the celebration and dress for the weather.
Tickets to the Opening Night Party, held Saturday at 8 p.m., are sold out. Galleries are open until 10 p.m., with musician Stine Janvin set to headline at 10:30 p.m.
Artist Maria Hassabi will have a live installation, STAGING (2017)—undressed, running from 1-5 p.m. Saturday.
