A fire ban across all provincial Crown land south of the Churchill River has been lifted.
The ban was put in place Aug. 1 amid dry conditions throughout much of the province and was expanded to all provincial parks on Aug. 31.
With cooler temperatures and rain finally appearing in affected areas, the provincial government announced Wednesday that the ban was being rescinded.
Fires remain restricted in the Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park and Cyprus Lake recreation site due to ongoing dry conditions.
Fire bans issued by municipalities and in regional or national parks are not affected by the province’s decision. People planning to visit those sites are advised to look into any restrictions that might be in place.
